Creative Conservation Alliance (CCA registered as The Society for Conservation of Natural Resources) is an international award-winning, government-registered, Bangladesh-based non-governmental organization committed to protecting, restoring, and conserving Bangladesh’s threatened biodiversity and natural habitats. CCA achieves conservation success through scientific research, community engagement, provision of livelihood services to nature-dependent communities, conservation breeding and rehabilitation of threatened wildlife, rewilding, advocacy, and outreach.
Background
The Creative Conservation Alliance (CCA) implements long-term, site-based conservation across six key regions of Bangladesh. Our integrated initiatives include biodiversity surveys, wildlife monitoring, habitat protection, operating conservation breeding and rehabilitation centers for threatened species, rewilding, and engaging local communities in sustainable resource management. CCA actively collaborates with government and non-government partners to achieve its mission.
CCA is seeking a highly passionate and motivated early-career Field Biologist to join our dynamic team. This is an ideal opportunity for a dedicated, hardworking individual who is serious about pursuing a career in wildlife research and conservation.
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work long hours in challenging field conditions, have solid foundational skills in scientific and report writing in English, and hold a basic familiarity with data analysis. The individual will be responsible for collecting and analyzing field data on multiple focus species, including gibbons, pangolins, tortoises, and bears, and will assist in community-based conservation activities.
This role includes a structured program of mentorship, capacity building, and professional development designed to foster long-term career growth in conservation.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct field surveys and monitoring for gibbons, utilizing a variety of standardized scientific methodologies
Assist in the survey and monitoring efforts for other focal species, including tortoises, pangolins and bears.
Lead and manage a team of local field assistants to execute field operations effectively.
Analyze field data and contribute to the writing of technical reports, scientific communications, and peer-reviewed publications.
Support the development and drafting of grant proposals to secure funding for conservation initiatives.
Assist in community-based conservation activities, including awareness events and sustainable livelihood support programs.
Serve as a liaison and maintain effective communication with government stakeholders, partner organizations, and local communities at the field level.
Assist in the daily maintenance and management of field stations to ensure operational readiness.
Conduct extensive field visits to multiple project sites, including areas in the northeast and the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Other Requirements:
A genuine, deep-seated passion for wildlife and conservation, with a strong desire to pursue a field-based career. A resilient and positive attitude is essential.
A non-discriminatory mindset and ability to work effectively and respectfully within a diverse team.
Must be physically capable of undertaking demanding fieldwork in remote and often challenging terrain and under various weather conditions. This includes long hours of hiking, carrying heavy equipment, and living in rugged field conditions.
Possesses a good foundation in English scientific and report writing and shows a proactive commitment to developing these skills further.
Basic understanding of wildlife science and conservation. Training will be provided, but a foundational knowledge is expected.
Basic competency in data management and analysis. Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., QGIS) and statistical packages (e.g., R) is a significant advantage.
Ability to think on their feet, troubleshoot issues, and adapt research plans in a dynamic field environment.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a close-knit, multidisciplinary team. Must be able to work respectfully with local communities and lead a small field team.
Willingness to spend up to 70% of time in the field, often for extended periods.
